Apple Driving School

Established in 2006, Apple Driving School is a local company that specialises in teaching pupils with varied learning difficulties (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, Aspergers, anxiety, ADHD and other special / specific needs) and elderly / mature drivers. Since buying their first electric car (a Nissan Leaf), instructor and founder Rob Cooling has recently bought a second Leaf, one for the business and one for family use after his wife was so happy driving his that she insisted they get a 2nd electric car and by the end of this year they intend to sell their 2 petrol cars.

“Using an electric car has been a huge success for my business and very enjoyable for myself. It’s quiet, smooth, comfortable and pupils love it! My running costs have reduced by about £2000 per year and it’s easily the best car I’ve ever driven. It’s like ‘car version 2’, the ultimate upgrade – how cars should always have been. I drive 25,000 miles a year and the range of the electric car is posing no problems. My Leaf is powered by 100% renewable electricity which is important to me, I want Nottingham’s air to be breathable as I’m fed up with breathing exhaust fumes.” – Rob Cooling, Apple Driving School
